Robert P. Henry
American priest
English is a living language, which is constantly evolving. I have learned to tolerate certain grammar as acceptable today that was thoroughly unacceptable when I was in elementary school. New words are created, and word meanings change on a constant basis. I may find it unfortunate that young people may not know the origin of the N-word. However, the reality is that they are giving a new meaning to that word in our constantly changing world. ... Who decides what is correct or incorrect? It is not the dictionary writers, journalists, academics, clergy, politicians, judges, young or old. Ultimately it is the speakers of this living language that determine meaning and influence of words.
