eye service noun. To work only when your boss is watching you (or could be watching you).

Example Citation:
"Eddie worked like a Trojan whenever Mr. Peterman made the rounds, but the rest of the time he just paid eye service to his job."

Notes:
This phrase is a play on "lip service," which means service rendered in word and not in deed.
